Just click on the map below and you can get directions to our church from anywhere.
What can I expect my first visit?
Regardless of which service you attend you will find people delighted that you have taken the opportunity to visit. Along with a warm welcome, you should receive a visitor packet that contains more information about the ministries here at Tabernacle.
During our Sunday School time you will find classes for every child’s age group as well as adult Bible study classes you are welcome to visit.
During our other services, you can expect heart-felt singing of traditional hymns, conservative music from our choir along with the accompaniment of the orchestra. You can also expect to find a challenging Bible message that will apply to your life. Services are generally a little over an hour in length.
Is childcare provided?
At every service we have safe, clean nurseries staffed for children three and under. Our nurseries are staffed by friendly church members who are delighted you would come and desire to make church exciting and memorable for your child. Parents who place their child in the nursery will receive a pager so that they can be discretely contacted should the need arise.
Our Sunday School hour, Sunday Morning Service, and Wednesday Evening Service all have special opportunities for older children. During our morning worship service a Children’s Church is provided. The Scriptures will come alive with creative teaching. This special service is an exciting time for ages 4 - 7 years old. On Wednesday evenings a Children’s Club program is available. Children ages 4 years old to the 6th grade will learn Scriptures, sing, and be taught God’s word. Your children will find this to be an engaging service. During the Sunday Evening Service, children who are older than three typically join their parents for a time of family-oriented worship.
What about the teenagers?
Our teens meet together for Sunday School classes and on Wednesday Evening for our Youth Chapel. In addition, the teens are active as a group, with regularly scheduled activities.
How should I dress?
There is no dress code at Tabernacle Baptist for our guests. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in traditional “Sunday” dress. However, we desire you to feel welcome to visit at any time.
Am I expected to participate in the offering?
No. The financial needs of Tabernacle Baptist Church are met through the tithes and offerings of the members. We want our service to be a gift to you. Please don’t feel an obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.
What if I have more questions?
If there is more you would like to know before visiting us, simply give us a call at 757-424-HOPE (4673), email us, or ask someone when you visit. We hope that you will come and see why Tabernacle is your place to grow and serve.
Membership: Making TBC Your Place to Grow & Serve
Our prayerful desire at Tabernacle is to follow the simple yet scriptural procedure concerning church membership as outlined in Acts 2:40-47, that is the preaching of the Gospel of Christ, salvation by faith, baptism, and church membership. Anyone desiring to join the church can present himself at the invitation time during any regular service by any of the following three ways:
By Believer’s Baptism.
Any person professing faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as personal Saviour, giving evidence of regeneration, and examined by church leadership may upon baptism by immersion be received into Tabernacle Baptist Church membership.
By Statement of Faith.
A believer of worthy Christian character who has formerly been saved and scripturally baptized, who is in accord with the view of faith and practice of this church may be received upon Statement of Faith.
By Transfer of Letter.
Any believer who holds church membership at a church of like precious faith and comes to unite with Tabernacle Baptist Church may be received on promise of a letter from his previous fundamental Baptist church.
